This spoken word piece came from a journal entry during my year of initiation into the Temple of Aphrodite, answering the question "What does the Goddess mean to me?" As I recorded this song, I envisioned an ancient temple dedicated to Aphrodite and other goddesses. May the ancient temples return!

"I Am She" is a reference to the very first women's Goddess circle I was part of back in the late 80s. We sang a lot!

The whispers in the background invoke some of the many names of the Goddess.

TEMPLE

She is the Mother of us all
The Earth beneath my feet
She is the Divine Spark that lives within me
And in every part of the world
She is the World

She is Life
My body is Her body
My heart is Her heart

She protects me from harm
She comforts me when I am bereft
She nourishes me
Giving forth bountiful food and water
And air to breathe

She is formless
And yet she is all form

She gives my life direction
When I am wandering lost

She is Love
She is deep, deep Love, in all its forms
She loves me as a Mother, a Lover, a Sister
She is All

I carry Her within me
She lives in me
She lives in my entire being
She is my breath
She is my voice
She is my skin and bones and muscle

She lives in my Heart
She lives in my Mind
She lives in my Sex

She expresses Herself through my emotions
From desire to grief
From laughter to joy to deep compassion

She is not separate from me
And I am not separate from Her
We are One
I Am She
She is Me
